What can we expect from astrology?
Astrology is an exceptional tool for providing guidance in terms of personal talents, skills, abilities and challenges for both individuals and those in relationships. Astrology is not a great tool for specific predictions, such as “Will I win the lottery?” So: Astrology can illuminate areas of harmony and challenge in any relationship and provide an overall sense of the resonance and potentials between two people; astrology cannot tell you IF you should marry!

How can I learn more about astrology?
I think the folks at www.astro.com have done a superb job of organizing wonderful tools for amateur and professional astrologers in a very user-friendly way. They also have a knowledge base on basics of astrology and a dictionary of astrological terms.

What’s the difference between astrology and astronomy?
The simple answer is that astrology is an art and astronomy is a science. Here is a portion of the entry at www.wikipedia.com that makes the distinction well, I think:

Why do I need to have a birth time “within four minutes?”
As the Earth turns on its axis, the backdrop of the sky appears to “rise” at the eastern horizon. About every four minutes a different degree of the zodiac appears to rise at the horizon. This point, the point at which the backdrop of the sky joins Earth’s eastern horizon, is known in astrology as the Ascendant. It is an important point in any personal natal chart and, therefore, it plays an important role in the joining of any two people. Without an accurate birth time within four minutes, astrology becomes a less precise tool. We want to provide the best possible product, so we ask for the most precise birth information available. With all this said, a birth time within 15 minutes will suffice to provide very useful information to you and your partner.

What time format do I use?
You will see that the WeddingStarZ time-entry system is in 24-hour time. Pull down the time menu until you see your birth time beside the corresponding 24-hour time. Not to worry: We have a huge database that will factor in such things as time zones, daylight-savings time and war time.

Where can I find my birth time if I don’t have a birth certificate?
First, please recognize that mothers’ memories are notoriously fuzzy. Remember: they had other priorities at the time! If you have your birth certificate, you will usually have your birth time. If this is not the case, check the medical records department of the hospital in which you were born. Also, most countries maintain accurate birth records in the civic, state and national registry offices, often called the Office of Vital Statistics. Ask your local municipality, county or state representative where to locate birth records. When you do request a birth record, be sure you request birth TIME, as this information is sometimes not given, even though it is on record and available.

What if my birth was induced, or I was born by caesarian section?
We will still use the birth time of record. We astrologers are pragmatic, working with “what is” rather than “what might have been.”

How exact does the birth place have to be? Say I was born at home, will the town I was born in do?
Yes, if the town name you provide is within 30 miles of the place of birth, it will be precise enough.

What if I was born in a leap year?
If you give us the time, date and location of your birth, our precise calculations will take the leap year into account.

My birthday falls between that astrological signs. How do you know which sign is mine?
We use very precise calculations using the time and place of your birth to make a definitive determination of your birth sign. You can be sure that if you have provided us with accurate birth information, we will provide you with an accurate sun sign.

My friends are getting married and the “Book of Us” sounds like a really cool gift I’d like to give them, but I don’t know their birth information. Can I give them a gift certificate?
